Keep It Down The Middle...

U.S. Amateur Qualifier, Camargo: Jeff Hodapp - Medalist

 

Jeff Hodapp (in the driver's seat above) shot 68-70 yesterday to lead the field in qualifying for the US Amateur at Camargo Club yesterday.  The Greater Cincinnati Golf Association sponsored this Local Qualifier, as they do many such Qualifying events.

Jeff now heads to Southern Hills Country Club in Tulsa, where Tiger Woods won his most recent PGA Championship a couple years ago.

Jeff has been a GOLF...SUCCESS Player since he was in 5th Grade at St. Vivian's here in Cincinnati.  You could not meet a nicer young man. 

His parents, John and Marianne, and his brother and sister, Johnny and Karen, as well as his many other relatives - all support his golf game in many great ways.  In High School, Jeff even caddied for my then 7-yr-old son, Taylor, during an event...great fun!!!

He starts his Junior year on the Golf Team at University of Dayton in a couple weeks - right after the Southern Hills trip.

Jeff keeps his game very simple...and learned at a very young age to hit 'Perfect' shots around the green.  His great distance off the tee has simply been a nice by-product of 10 years of making sure his '2-Second Swing' looks good on the video.

Another GOLF...SUCCESS high-finisher was St. Xavier H.S. State Champion, Colin Reenan who shot 70-75 to finish 9th.

Matthew Wetterich Wins Junior Metropolitan Boys Championship (10-13)

Matthew Wetterich won the Junior Metropolitan Boys Championship (10-13) sponsored by the Greater Cincinnati Golf Association at Wyoming Golf Club a couple weeks ago.  Matthew shot 78-77 on a pretty difficult course.

He was one of many GOLF...SUCCESS high finishers, including his 12-yr-old little brother, Daniel, who finished 5th - shooting 82-86.

I've helped Matthew and Daniel for several years, but mostly they have learned indirectly by watching the Lessons I've given their older brother, David - and hanging out with Taylor alot around the practice green by #1 at Meadow LInks & Golf Academy.  Their Dad, Mark, gives them alot of instruction as well.

Matthew now has his sights set on playing well for the LaSalle High School Golf Team this Fall.

CONGRATS, Matthew !!! ...and Good Luck at the LaSalle High School Golf Team tryouts thihs week!!!

Junior PGA Championship, TPC River's Bend

Our family sure was elated to see our old friend, T.J. Vogel win the Boys' Division of the 2009 Junior PGA Championship, held last week here in Cincinnati at TPC River's Bend.

T.J. played unbelievable golf...16 under par for 72 holes on a 7200 yard rain-soaked golf course.  I saw every shot and 'Li'l Taylor' saw every shot of the last 54 holes.

(As we all know, the power of suggestion can help us tremendously -Taylor went out and shot his best-ever, 68, at Glenview G.C. today)
